Toby is a secretive and self-centered gambler who’s always looking out for number one.
Whatever they’re hiding must be pretty huge, because Toby’s sure if the secret ever comes out, they’ll either get killed or sold at auction. Here’s what we know about Toby’s secret so far:
- Although they often disguise themselves as a man, Toby is actually completely genderless. To Toby, the disguise is protective coloration.
- They don’t seem to have a last name, or at least, they refuse to divulge it.
- They have an unheard of gift for repairing and using old Imperial technology.
Fancying themselves a gambler, Toby carries around a ‘lucky ace’ that’s gotten them into all kinds of trouble. But it was a gift from their grandma, and Toby’d rather burn than not have it with them. She’s the sole exception to their detestation of the rest of their family, and probably raised Toby, but they aren’t telling, so…
Fiercely independent, Toby struck out on their own and got stuck on the absurdly named world of Oasis. After a brief run of crappy luck at the tables, Toby ended up in debt to the wrong people and had to escape the bleak desert world by trading their services as engineer to the crew of the Ranger ship Excelsior Advance.
